生產補助金 Maternity Allowance

我在十月初寄出的 Maternity Allowance (MA) 申請表，剛好碰上郵差們在搞罷工，遲了將近一個星期才寄到，還好我是用「Recorded」的方式寄出的，可以上網查進度，絕不讓對方有藉口說他們沒收到．
等了約一個月後，今天收到了回函，確認我符合申請資格，並且給了我一張回覆表格，只要我決定了何時停止工作，何時開始放產假，想要何時開始領錢，把回覆表格填好寄回，就可以在家等收錢了．
好開心哪，繳了兩年多的稅金終於感覺有點回饋了！
一星期領超過一百英鎊，可領九個月，超過台幣 28 萬元，全為了讓婦女們可以安心地生個小孩呢，這種福利水平台灣不知民國幾年才可以有阿．

來英國前在台灣工作了幾年, 總感覺好像到老死也沒有機會用到自己繳的稅金, 還不如買保險.
雖然英國的稅金比較高, 但有機會用在自己的身上當然也就繳得心甘情願, 何況我根本就還沒繳到28萬的稅, 卻一樣享有福利呢!

每個月自己繳貴的要命的保險就算了,
真的有事情需要看醫生,還要付co-pay,
真是沒天良
真是不錯，台灣的福利制度，還有很長的路要走
雖然不確定能不能刺激生育率（在英國）
但對產婦和家人來講，都很有保障
希望等我有baby時，福利能有一半好就好＠＠

這一份規則是今年才剛改的, 所以只要你持續工作, 準時納稅, 近年內懷孕都是可以享有同樣福利的! 加油喔!
原來一個小孩就可以領那麼多，難怪路上看到那麼多女生年紀輕輕救推著好幾個小孩。多生幾個小孩再加上申請住免錢國宅，這些人不用工作都可以生活的比每天上班還要繳一大堆稅的人好。這樣誰想工作啊！大家只要去生小孩就好啦！這種福利如果發生在台灣不被罵死才怪。

I don’t think they do. I sent it off to apply for my maternity allowance, and haven’t seen it since. I don’t need it for anything else anyway, so it never bothers me. You can always ask your GP to give you another one if neccessary.

You may also have a look at the source of “health in pregnancy grant” that this is from the national insurance contribution. As long as you have contribution towards the NI, then you should be entitled to any benefits generated from NT contribution. However, this is just what I understand.
Alternatively, you can always check with Citizen Advice Bureau or Immigration and Nationality Enquiries Bureau which they should be able to confirm for you.
